Kendra Muecke, performing under the name “Kendra & the Bunnies” is a folk rock americana singer/songwriter with a psychedelic poetic edge. Her style heavily utilizes the element of storytelling through song, painting a creative experience for the listener. 1970s meets the’90s.
Through music, Kendra & the Bunnies combines song, spoken word, and theatrical presentation to transpose the audience into a mystical-surrender of now. With guitar and vocals as the cornerstone, Kendra & the Bunnies’ music often includes percussion, keyboard/synth, and audio sample. Based in Los Angeles, Kendra performs on a regular basis in California making venues like the Viper Room, House of Blues Anaheim, The Mint LA, Molly Malone’s, TRiP Santa Monica, and more her home. Nationally, Kendra & the Bunnies has played all across the country including places like Music Inn World Instruments NYC, Leesta Vall Records Brooklyn, Be On Key Psychedelic Ripple Denver, Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center Pennsylvania, The Venue ATX, and The Big Legrowlski Portland.
In the studio, Kendra & the Bunnies’ first album “of Vinyl” debuted in July 2019 with an adjoining EP, “of Always”, following its release in September 2019. Then in February 2020, Kendra & the Bunnies’ dropped the single, “Silent Sleeper”. It was distributed by The Orchard (Sony Music Group). In March of 2020, Kendra decided to re-release the single “Speak Kesey” from her debut album, “of Vinyl”. In conjunction with TMG Street Pride Records, the single “Speak Kesey” debuted on the DRT GLOBAL TOP 150 INDEPENDENT AIRPLAY CHARTS at # 64.
Kendra has also been an active member of the music festival community since 2009. Her first big year of involvement was with an Artists Relations & Production internship with Arise Music Festival in Loveland, CO in 2014. In 2016, she began teaching her workshop on improvisational acting and spirituality titled, “The Politics of You: Acting in Dimensional Alignment” at the Spring Frequency Festival in La Jolla, CA then at Sonic Bloom Music Festival at Hummingbird Ranch, CO in 2017. She has additionally volunteered for several years on the Production team for festivals such as Lightning in a Bottle 2016 and Sonic Bloom 2018. In 2019, Kendra & the Bunnies performed at the Healing Arts Festival in Moorpark, CA, and The Northridge Family Festival in Northridge, CA. In 2020, Kendra & the Bunnies performed in the Millennium Music Conference held in Harrisburg, PA. There she was included on the compilation CD and in two showcases. She loves to learn and meet the community, become a part of it, and get on a first name basis with the movers and shakers. As an advocate of change through shared experience and community, she sees participation as going hand in hand with performance.
Kendra Muecke as writer, poet, journalist, and novelist is prolific as well. Many of her songs originate as poems. Her first 340 page book of poetry, one-act plays, and philosophical essays is titled “The Politics of” and was released in November 2017. Her second book of poetry titled, “Project Non-Arch: Operation Clown School” was published on September 13, 2019. It is a long-form prose look into cultural conditioning in America. She is currently comprising her third book of poetry that is looking to be in the over-hundreds-of-pages range, and she is also writing a novel which is a memoir with a non-fiction fantastical edge. Kendra’s memoir is titled, “Friend of the Level”. Kendra is a music journalist for the online music magazines Live For Live Music & Spin Cycle Presents, a quarterly contributor for EZWay Magazine, and has written for Denver’s Jefferson Park Newsletter.
As an actress, Kendra has been studying professional acting, theatre, and singing since the spry age of 4. She is classically trained for the stage in Shakespeare, Stanislavski, Meisner, Uta Hagen, Musical Theatre, and improvisational acting techniques. She is very experienced in film-acting as well, using the emotional recall method. Today, she recites her original written poetry as monologue alongside her singing/songwriting and healing performances. She is SAG-Aftra Eligible and often on set for all different types of films, tv shows, commercials, and music videos. Kendra Muecke graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from Pepperdine University in 2015 and attended the Independent Artists Program at the Musicians Institute in 2019. I am currently represented by Top Priority Group Management (Acting) and BSquared MGMT (Music).
Kendra Muecke’s mission is to create art that reflects society’s positive aspects back onto itself… causing a ripple effect that expands as it is heard. Her intention is to share healing via collaborative experience and understanding through performance. She is for the peaceful gathering of community through means of song, voice, and action; improving the planet one note & one poem at a time. Kendra is an active volunteer for ‘Artists for Trauma’ Non-Profit and supports the cause of Smoke-Free Music Cities.
