What are some non-pharmacologic options?
- Eat slowly: fully digest your food so you can absorb your food’s nutrients
- Avoid processed food and sugar. Get your nutrients from plant based foods, lean protein and a high fiber diet. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.
- Integrate natural probiotics into your diet: yogurt, kefir, kimchi
- Drink plenty of water which aids in digestion
- Get enough sleep and be proactive in minimizing stress
Raise awareness;
- If you suffer from mental health sx: anxiety, depression, mood swings and the like, pay close attention to your gut. There is a close gut-brain connection. Improving gut health will often support brain health.
