Microplastics are tiny pieces of plastic that are everywhere. They are in our water, our clothes, our kitchens and our food.
They contain harmful chemicals like BHA, pthalates, PFA’s and can impact our health.
One of the most significant ways plastic particles end up in our food is through single use plastics. Think about how many times you’ve bought food items wrapped in plastic. And how many times have you used plastic wrap at home?
These single use plastics break down and find their ways to our waterways and soils- they end up in our seafood among other places.
Another surprising source of microplastics are tea bags- yes ordinary tea bags. A plastic (polypropylene) is often used to make tea bags.
Hence it is best to use loose leaf tea and invest in a stainless steel diffuser.
Other tisups to avoid microplastics:

_do not microwave in plastic containers
-do nnt ot store food in plastic
-do not use plastic cutting boards or plastic utensils
